Bret Richter serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer for MSG Networks Inc., a media leader that includes two award-winning regional sports and entertainment networks, MSG Network (MSG) and MSG+. In this role, Mr. Richter oversees all financial functions of the company. This includes accounting, financial reporting, tax, and financial planning and analysis, as well as treasury, risk management, corporate development and investor relations.

MSG Network and MSG+ are home to 10 professional sports teams, delivering live games of the New York Knicks; New York Rangers; New York Islanders; New Jersey Devils; Buffalo Sabres; New York Liberty; New York Red Bulls and the Westchester Knicks, as well as coverage of the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills. Each year, MSG and MSG+ collectively telecast approximately 500 live professional games, along with a comprehensive lineup of other sporting events, including college football and basketball, and critically-acclaimed original programming.  The gold standard for regional broadcasting, MSG Networks has won 145 New York Emmy Awards over the past nine years.

Previously, Mr. Richter worked for nearly a decade at Cablevision Systems Corporation, one of the nation’s leading media and telecommunications companies. Mr. Richter last served as executive vice president, overseeing financial strategy and development, corporate financial planning, business planning, and mergers and acquisitions. During this time, he was also responsible for leading the analysis of Cablevision’s operational and business results to ensure that the company met its financial goals. Mr. Richter joined Cablevision in 2005 as senior vice president, financial strategy and development and was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, corporate development and other critical corporate initiatives.

Before joining Cablevision, he served as president of The Richter Consulting Group, Inc., a privately held advisory firm that provided consulting services to early stage media companies. He also served as senior vice president of finance at NTL Incorporated (a predecessor of Virgin Media), where he took on progressively senior roles, including managing all of NTL’s finance activities as its acting chief financial officer. Mr. Richter was also a member of the media investment banking advisory team at Salomon Brothers Inc.

Mr. Richter graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Business Management. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and two children.
