At MSG Networks, Mr. Burian is responsible for advising our Board of Directors and executive management on all legal and strategic initiatives. MSG Networks was formerly part of The Madison Square Garden Company (MSG) until a 2015 spin-off that made MSG Networks a pure-play media company and created MSG as a new publicly-traded sports and entertainment company. Mr. Burian played an integral role in that transaction, which included raising $1 billion in debt financing at MSG Networks.

As Executive Vice President and General Counsel of MSG, Mr. Burian led the 2020 spin-off of MSG’s entertainment businesses from its sports business. Along with his role at MSG Networks, Mr. Burian serves as Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and General Counsel for Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports), a professional sports company that includes the New York Knicks and New York Rangers franchises, as well as Counter Logic Gaming, an esports organization. He is also Executive Vice President, Corporate Development of Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (MSG Entertainment), which includes a diverse collection of venues, original productions, and entertainment dining and nightlife brands.

Over his tenure at MSG, Mr. Burian played an instrumental role in advancing the Company’s growth. He helped spearhead a wide range of corporate initiatives that diversified and strengthened the Company’s portfolio of sports and entertainment assets, including with key acquisitions, such as Tao Group Hospitality, Boston Calling Events and Counter Logic Gaming; the formation of the Westchester Knicks franchise; and the pursuit of strategic partnerships with Azoff MSG Entertainment, Tribeca Enterprises and Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. Mr. Burian also played a leadership role in several important initiatives involving MSG’s venues, including the three-year renovation of the Madison Square Garden arena; the Company’s purchase, reinvention and sale of the Forum arena in Inglewood, CA; and the Company’s land acquisitions, entitlements and construction plans for MSG Sphere in Las Vegas and London. Mr. Burian has also helped lead numerous other strategic initiatives and capital markets transactions, including the sale of MSG’s Fuse music television network; MSG’s spin-off from Cablevision Systems Corporation; and multiple strategic investments and debt financings. At MSG, Mr. Burian served on the Board of Directors of MSG’s many portfolio companies and played an integral role in their strategic planning and integration.

Before joining MSG, Mr. Burian worked at Cablevision Systems Corporation for 10 years, where he played an instrumental role in many of the company’s strategic transactions, including the acquisitions of Sundance Channel and Newsday Media Group, as well as the sale of the Fox Sports New England and Fox Sports Bay Area regional sports networks. As Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Business Affairs, he provided legal and strategic counsel to the Company’s executive management. He also had oversight over various corporate legal matters, including real estate and employee benefits, and supported Cablevision’s PVI Virtual Media Services subsidiary and other strategic investments, including as a board member. Previously, Mr. Burian served as Vice President, Associate General Counsel, and as Assistant General Counsel.

Prior to Cablevision, Mr. Burian was an Associate with the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell, specializing in mergers and acquisitions in both their New York and London offices.
